Counseling for Anxious Teens.
Being a teen in today’s world is hard work. Suddenly when middle school hits, or even before, life becomes centered around your grades in school, your success in sports or music or debate, your social status, and your all important future in college and beyond. You are tasked with figuring out who you are and what you want to be when you barely feel like you have time to finish that assignment, go to that practice, and post that picture. This sort of pressure can easily lead to high levels of anxiety and stress that can feel out of control.
If you are feeling this way I am here to tell you that there is nothing wrong with you. Anxiety is a needed and natural phenomenon that can sometimes be kicked into overdrive. Every teen, no matter their background or current circumstances can learn the skills and knowledge they need to manage their anxiety. This is where a therapists can come in handy. We know anxiety, we want to hear about it, and we have tools that can help you manage it.
Mental Health Consulting for Teens.
Throughout 2018 and 2019 I worked closely with the players, coaches, and parents of the Reign Academy - a top level girls youth soccer team in Seattle - providing a series of workshops on the challenges and opportunities that teens face in today’s world, how teens can cope with anxiety, depression, and performance pressure, and how both teens and adults can intentionally create a more supportive and enriching environment in sports and beyond. I am able to tailor my program on mental health and adolescence for your sports team, school, or group.
